Amanda Anderson, M.Ed

A double graduate from Louisiana State University, Amanda Anderson is a provisional licensed professional counselor who is working towards gaining her license in Louisiana. She received a Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2017. Amanda has experience working with college-aged individuals providing both individual and group therapy. With BHCC, Amanda focuses on providing services to those suffering with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and body image distortions. Amanda also has a passion for working with college-level populations as well as LGBTQ populations and individuals struggling with eating disorders.

In therapy sessions, Amanda primarily operates from a person-centered approach, providing empathy and positive regard while working as equal partners with the client to achieve personal growth. Amanda also utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients target and change the thoughts and behaviors that may be interfering with personal development. Above all, Amanda views the therapy experience as a collaborative process where clients are the experts of their lives. Through this process, Amanda believes that clients can create ways to achieve their goals and become more empowered.
