Dr. Cassandra Chambers, Ph.D., LPC, NCC works with children, adolescents, adults, and couples to address various challenges such as grief and loss, anxiety, depression, marriage, couple and family issues, personality disorders, behavioral challenges or concerns, etc. Dr. Chambers has 6 years of experience providing counseling in agency, school, and private practice settings. Dr. Chambers strongly believes that counseling is a partnership between the therapist and the client, intended to get the client to an ideal state of functioning for themselves. With the assistance of the therapist, the client can learn the skills necessary to ease challenges and obtain the strength necessary to make changes they need to make.
Dr. Chambers works from a psychodynamic framework understanding the many contributing factors to our idea of self and behaviors. By incorporating cognitive-behavioral interventions the client is able to gain the information they learned to change their thoughts and ultimately their behaviors. Through interventions such as homework, in-session activities or play, supportive reflection, and role-playing, the client is able to learn and practice those behaviors while making them their own for real-life implementation. Dr. Chambers obtained a Masters of Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Ph.D. from the University of Holy Cross. Following her Master’s, she went on to become a National Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor.
