Jennifer B. Nettles, M.Ed., LPC, NCC is a Professional Counselor licensed in the state of Louisiana and certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She received her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans. She is a member of Louisiana Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota Honors Counseling Society. Jennifer has years experience working in the community and agency settings counseling individuals and families. She offers counseling services for adolescents and adults suffering with depression, stress/anxiety, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, relationship issues and infertility/miscarriage loss. She also offers family, couples and group counseling services. Jennifer’s theoretical approach is Person-Centered which encompasses qualities such as empathy, unconditional acceptance and genuineness. She also utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality (choice) theory, Adlerian and Solution-Focused Therapy.
The actual approach and techniques used will vary depending on the nature of the client’s issues and the goals and objectives that have been selected for treatment. As a counselor, she attempts to provide an atmosphere promoting growth and change. She views her role as facilitating mutually agreed upon goals and objectives, while encouraging client responsibility. Ultimately, the client is the expert in his/her life. The goal of therapy is for the client to gain personal insight, and apply problem-solving skills and tools learned in therapy to everyday life.
