Julia W. Davis, MHS, PLPC is a provisional licensed professional counselor in the state of Louisiana. She received her Master of Health Sciences from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. She has experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups in a variety of settings who are struggling with a range of challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and adjustments. She also has experience with substance abuse and works part-time in a residential addiction treatment facility. Julia has received training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems and is in the process of becoming certified as a PCIT Therapist.
Julia approaches counseling from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective and strives to empower clients to build awareness of their motivations and values in order to help guide them towards change. Julia believes that all individuals, couples, and families are unique and that counseling is a collaborative process tailored to fit the specific needs of each client. As a counselor, Julia will provide an authentic, supportive, therapeutic environment that facilitates client exploration and growth.
Julia has always been passionate about helping people and before becoming a counselor she worked in education with Teach For America-Greater New Orleans. Julia is also a member of the American Counseling Association, the Louisiana Counseling Association, and Chi Sigma Iota National Counseling Honor Society.
